If you like another man and you are honest, you speak freely, discuss women over beer, shoot the shit about politics. But no matter how deep the potential liking, it is impossible to open up completely to a man who is dangling your daughter’s potential defloration between his legs. He reflected that after marriage the possible had become the actual and could you become complete friends with the man who was banging your daughter night after night? There might be a moral there, but he doubted it.

| Because the past doesn’t want to be changed. It fights back when you try. And the bigger the potential change, the harder it fights. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| But I believe in love, you know; love is a uniquely portable magic. I don’t think it’s in the stars, but I do believe that blood calls to blood and mind calls to mind and heart to heart. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| Even people capable of living in the past don’t really know what the future holds. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| For a moment everything was clear, and when that happens you see that the world is barely there at all. Don’t we all secretly know this? It’s a perfectly balanced mechanism of shouts and echoes pretending to be wheels and cogs, a dreamclock chiming beneath a mystery-glass we call life. Behind it? Below it and around it? Chaos, storms. Men with hammers, men with knives, men with guns. Women who twist what they cannot dominate and belittle what they cannot understand. A universe of horror and loss surrounding a single lighted stage where mortals dance in defiance of the dark. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| Home is watching the moon rise over the open, sleeping land and having someone you can call to the window, so you can look together. Home is where you dance with others, and dancing is life. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| Life turns on a dime. Sometimes toward us, but more often it spins away, flirting and flashing as it goes: so long, honey, it was good while it lasted, wasn’t it? | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| Multiple pasts were bad enough, but when you added multiple futures? Anyone would turn to drink, if drink were available. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| The past is obdurate for the same reason a turtle’s shell is obdurate: because the living flesh inside is tender and defenseless. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| We never know which lives we influence, or when, or why. Not until the future eats the present, anyway. We know when it’s too late. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
| When people begin to lose hope, there’s bound to be explosions. | Stephen King. "11/22/63"
